Helen R. Zelasko Piwowar, age 78, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away at her home on Friday, June 13, 2003.

She was born August 19, 1924 in Uniontown, Pa., daughter of Albert Zelasko and Maria Glista Sikora Zelasko.

Helen was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, the Happy Helens Club, and St. Hedwig Lodge.

She loved her polka music and loved to dance.

Helen also enjoyed 22 years of traveling with her late husband, Ed, in their trailer to Florida for the winter months.

Her husband, Edward J. Piwowar Sr., died March 8, 2002. Also deceased are two sisters, Anna B. Sikora Suba and Mary Sikora Joswick, three brothers, John J. Sikora Sr., Walter Sikora, Joseph A. Zelasko, and her parents.

She is survived by a son, Edward J. Piwowar Jr. of Scottdale, Pa.; daughters: Gloria J. Pasqua of Uniontown, Pa., Monica Tacconi of Delmont, Pa., Mary Ellen Oziemblowsky of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, Lynn Krofcheck of Ephrata, Pa., and Marsha Sneddon of Uniontown, Pa.; daughter-in-law and sons-in-law: Bernadette Piwowar, Pete Pasqua, Joseph Tacconi, Joseph Oziemblowsky, Paul Krofcheck, and Kyle Sneddon; 13 Grandchildren: John E. Piwowar and his wife, Heather, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Benjamin T. Piwowar of Baltimore, Maryland, Renee Pasqua Kramer of Pittsburgh, Pa., Michael Pasqua of Uniontown, Pa., Selena Gearing of Bethel Park, Pa., Joseph Oziemblowsky, Mary Elizabeth Oziemblowsky, and Daniel Oziemblowsky all of New Jersey, Matthew Krofcheck and Angela Krofcheck both of Ephrata, Pa., James Sneddon, Joseph Sneddon, and Katherine Sneddon all of Uniontown, Pa.; three sisters: Genevieve “Jenny” Zelasko Joy and her husband, Roger, of Horseheads, New York, Agnes Sikora Kaczmarek of Uniontown, Pa., and Nell Zelasko Miskanin and husband, Michael Miskanin, of Uniontown; a brother, Andrew Sikora and his wife, Florence, of Cleveland, Ohio; a beloved brother-in-law, Stanley Joswick of Uniontown, Pa.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today from Noon to 8 p.m. and Monday, June 16, until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
