Lemont Furnace Harbaugh wins award
Doug K. Harbaugh, a registered representative with SunAmerica Securities Inc. in Lemont Furnace, has earned membership in the 2003 Leadership Council for PLANCO, a wholesaler of investment and insurance products for The Hartford. Leadership Council memberships are reserved for those representatives who produce over $1 million in Hartford Leaders sales in a calendar year.
Doug has assisted clients with their investment and retirement planning by strategically matching their needs with appropriate investment products.

Valley Dairy opens new site
Melissa A. Blystone, vice president/restaurant operations has finalized lease arrangements for a Valley Dairy restaurant and ice cream shoppe in the Blairsville Tri Star Plaza, Route 22. Valley Dairy will occupy the former Burger King building. An addition to the structure is in the design stages. The new Valley Dairy Restaurant with seating for 145 to 150 is projected to open in September or October.
A manager will be appointed from within the company organization. Hours of operation, along with a definite opening date will be announced later pending construction progress. Approximately 35 to 40 employees will be hired locally. This will put total employment to 400 over our 10 county area.
The new Route 22 Tri Star location is the 12th unit in the chain. Valley Dairy recently opened new restaurants in Connellsville and Butler.
Valley Dairy is a division of Fairview Dairy Inc. with ice cream manufacturing and distribution facilities in Windber. Valley Dairy restaurants are located in Butler, Connellsville, DuBois, Ebensburg, Greensburg, Indiana, Johnstown, Kittanning, Latrobe, and Windber.

Community Bank issues dividend
Ralph J. Sommers Jr., Chairman/CEO of Community Bank, National Association in Greene and Washington counties has announced the bank’s board of directors has approved a dividend payment of 19 cents per share for shareholders of record as of June 10. The dividend will be payable on June 20.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this dividend payment to our shareholders and believe it is a reflection of the stability and growth of this hometown financial institution – despite these trying economic times. Our commitment to customers, community, and country has rendered dividends both to our shareholders, and to a quality of life in the community at large,” Sommers remarked. “We continue to satisfy our customers’ financial needs and anticipate what products and services will improve our banking relationship into the future,” he added.
Community Bank, National Association has assets in excess of $226 million and 10 offices, five each in Greene and Washington counties.
Morgantown
Restaurant wins wine award
The Glasshouse Grille in Morgantown has again been recognized by Wine Spectator Magazine with an Award of Excellence.
The award recognizes a restaurants commitment to a fine wine list, with a sufficient selection of better producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. There are currently around 2,800 restaurants with this distinction and seven of those are located in West Virginia. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Glasshouse Grille has earned this award.
The Glasshouse Grille is a private, family owned and operated business located in the historic Seneca Glass Factory in Morgantown. Jamie Kiszka, co-owner of the restaurant said that their wine list is a product of years of research and consultation. The Glasshouse Grille is in the Seneca Center, 709 Beechurst Ave., Morgantown and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and from 5 to 9 p.m. for dinner.

Company honors Kendall
The Baltimore Life Insurance Co. has awarded its “Lifesaver Award,’ to Clara E. Kendall at its annual meeting in Harrisburg. To be eligible, agents must sell 100 or more policies in a year. Kendall sold 101.
A 13-year-veteran in the insurance business, Kendall works in the Uniontown office of Baltimore Life, which is managed by Fred Hart, LUTCF.
She resides in Smithfield with her husband Lloyd.
