John E. Capan Sr.
John E. “Trailer” Capan Sr., age 80, of Coolspring, Pa., passed away Saturday morning, June 14, 2003 in IHS at Mountain View, Greensburg, Pa. He was born August 29, 1922 in Ralph, Pa., son of John Capan and Mary Capan Novak.
John was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown and a World War II Veteran who served in the United States Army.
He was a lifetime member of V. F. W. Post 47 in Uniontown and a member of the Coolspring AC Club, Catholic War Veterans, and Lemont Sportsmen’s Club.
Three brothers, Martin Capin, John Novak, Joseph Novak, his sister, Barbara Holly, and parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sophie Markusic Capan; his loving children: John E. Capan Jr. and wife, Sheryl, of Coolspring, David Capan of Uniontown, Pa., William Capan of Coolspring, and Robert Capan and wife, Debra, of Coolspring; grandchildren: John III, Michael, Victoria, Amanda and Roberta; three sisters: Helen Liptak of Uniontown, Mary Evancheck of Uniontown, and Martha Sadosky and her husband, Andrew, of Coolspring; his mother-in-law with whom Sophie and John made their home, Anna Markusic; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARKSY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, June 18, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, North Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Micah J. Kozoil as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, where Military Honors will be accorded by Uniontown V. F. W. Post 47.
Catholic War Veterans will conduct a Ritual in the Funeral Home this evening at 8 p.m.
Visitation was also held Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
