Duvall becomes minister of music

2 min read

The Rev. Chris Duvall is the new minister of music at Faith Assembly of God, located at 690 Morgantown Road, Uniontown. A native of Harrison City, Rev. Duvall studied music at Indiana University of Pennsylvania before entering Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God in Lakeland, Fla., where he received a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministries and preaching in 1997.

Rev. Duvall had been working in western North Carolina as a youth and worship pastor before beginning work at Faith Assembly on Jan. 26.

“My job is to minister to the needs of musicians and equip them for ministry,’ he said.

His duties include working with the choir, worship team and sound and media programs.

“Basically, anything to do with media follows me from sound and lighting to the Web pages,’ Rev. Duvall said. “I do work with illustrated sermons. We have an illustrated sermon team and I help the pastor with the messages as well.’

Faith Assembly’s choir will present a missions musical on March 16 at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. worship.

“I inherited a very good choir. Robin put a lot of work into it. She did a very good job,’ said Rev. Duvall, referring to Robin Immel, wife of the Rev. Don Immel, senior pastor.

Mrs. Immel previously handled the music ministry at the church.

Rev. Duvall added, “We’re about to embark on a campaign in April to expose people to the ministry of the choir and let them know where the choir is headed.’

Looking at his job, Rev. Duvall said, “It’s important to me to give an opportunity to creative people, and to create an environment where they feel wanted.’

Rev. Duvall is married to Tara and they have a 2-year-old son named Christopher.
