Two waive hearings
Two Uniontown men accused of separate crimes waived their rights to preliminary hearings at District Justice Mark Blair’s Uniontown office and District Justice Rick Vernon’s South Union Township office. Jerry Arthur Harris Jr., 34, of 55 Dunlap St., and Frederick Monsour George, 48, of 21 William St., will now face charges in court.
Harris was picked up by city police earlier this month on an outstanding drug warrant at the intersection of Morgantown and Fayette streets.
City police said state police at Uniontown issued the warrant.
City police said they filed a firearm violation charge against Harris when they discovered a .410-calibre handgun on the floor of the vehicle in which he was riding.
Harris was placed in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $100,000 bond on the drug charges and 10 percent of $50,000 bond on the weapons violation.
George, a former maintenance worker at St. George Maronite Church in Uniontown, is charged with forgery and related charges for allegedly defrauding the church.
George was arraigned by Vernon on one count of forgery, one count of theft by deception and two counts of access device fraud and by Blair for one count of forgery and one count of theft by deception.
Vernon sent George to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $20,000 percentage bail on the access device fraud charge and $20,000 percentage bail on the forgery and theft by deception charges.
Blair added another $10,000 percentage bail for the forgery and theft by deception charges filed in his office.
