Gail Ann (McConkey) Furin, 61, of Monarch, Pa., died following a lengthy illness on Monday, March 3, 2003 in UPMC Health Center, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born November 23, 1941 in Monarch, Pa., a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Pacvet) McConkey.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Olvarnik and a brother Donald McConkey.

She was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School Class of 1959 and Durbin’s Secretarial School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary for Fayette County MH/MR. She was formerly employed by West Penn Power, Fruehauf Corporation and Hills Department Store. Gail was a member of St. Stephen’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Leisenring, Pa. and the St. Stephen’s Ladies Guild, Monarch Ladies Auxiliary, The G.C.U. Lodge 18 and Professional Secretaries International (PSI).

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Cornelius “Neil” Furin; a son, Gregory Furin; two sisters, Marie Matchey and Patricia Moscalink of Monarch; also a special sister-in-law, Charlotte Steich of Lemont Furnace; special nieces, Toni Brothers of Fr. Ashby, W.Va. and Sylvia Sitko of Juniata Road, Little Summit, Pa.; special great nieces, Ashley, Kayley and Shelby Brothers, all of Ashby, W.Va. and Bethany Moscalink of Uniontown; a special great great niece Abbey Sitko of Juniata Road, Little Summit, and many other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received today and Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, Pa. where a Panachida Service will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Stephens Byzantine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Kapusnak as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.

Parastas will be held in the funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
