Vigils planned

WAYNESBURG – The Greene County Courthouse steps will be the setting for a weekly silent vigil for peace Thursdays from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., beginning this Thursday.

Individuals will gather during the lunch hour to stand in silent solidarity and prayer with millions of people throughout the world who want a peaceful solution to the situation in Iraq.

“We need an opportunity to join others in publicly praying for peace in the world,” said Nancy Ferrari, one of the organizers of the vigil. “Some people may want to participate for the full half hour; others may only be able to stay a few minutes. But we’re hoping that many people who are committed to a peaceful settlement of the Iraq crisis will spend part of their Thursday lunch hour with us.”
