Police identify shooting victim
State police at Uniontown said the 23-year-old man who was found dead in his vehicle early Wednesday morning in the woods off Route 119 in North Union Township has been identified as Lee T. Seward Jr. of New Stanton, formerly of Brownsville. According to Trooper Brian R. Burden, Uniontown state police community relations officer, Seward’s death has been ruled a suicide.
State police said Seward was traveling north on Route 119 just prior to the Connellsville Street Exit when his vehicle ran off the road, crossed both southbound lanes, and ended up in the woods.
State police said Seward was found with an “apparent self inflicted gun shot wound.”
Seward was born Dec. 21, 1979, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of Lee Thomas Seward Sr. of Columbus, Ohio, and Tina Johnson of Greensburg.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters and brothers, Tabitha and Johnathan Wynn of Brownsville, Damien and Selena Seward of Uniontown, Elizabeth and Norman Linton of Rosedale, N.Y., and Carmen and Stanley Campbel of Columbus, Ohio; grandmothers Ethel Seward of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Agnes Fletcher of Ironton, Ohio; his girlfriend, Abigail Hogan of New Stanton, with whom he made his home for the past three years; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Muriel E. Lantz Funeral Home, 297 E. Main St., Uniontown today from 5 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Leonard Tucker, officiating. Interment will follow in the Edenborn Cemetery.
