Shirley McLaughlin Shaffer
Shirley McLaughlin Shaffer, 71, of Smithfield, Pa., died Sunday evening, March 9, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Diane Meadows in Wichita, Kansas. She was born September 8, 1931 in Smithfield, Pa., daughter of the late Robert Daniel Hayes McLaughlin and Ruth Naomi Myers McLaughlin.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son, Robert Daniel Shaffer and her sister Emily Epley.
Shirley was employed for 30 years at Lakeview Country Club until her retirement in 1996.
She also attended the White House Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane Meadows and her husband, Steve of Wichita, Kansas and Jeanne Jones of Homosassa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Scott Meadows, Jessica Jones and Jeremy Jones. Also survived by C. Robert Shaffer, Uniontown; sisters, Norma Brady, Martinsburg, Pa., Roberta Charles, Wellington, Ohio and Ruthanne Toth, Tucson, Arizona; her brother Ed McLaughlin of Smithfield, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday until 11 a.m. the hour of service with the Rev. George W. McLaughlin officiating.
Interment will follow in Bruceton Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.
