I-70 work planned PennDOT District 12 is announcing that work is getting ready to start up again on Interstate 70 between Exit 31 (Kammerer) and Exit 35 (Monongahela / Centerville / Route 481) in Washington County.
The work will be in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Single lane restrictions will occur throughout this area and traffic will flow in the passing lanes (left lanes) starting on Monday, March 17.
Work is scheduled to be completed in September. This is a continuation of last summer’s project and includes removal and replacement of sections of the existing roadway pavement, drainage and shoulder work. The contractor for this project is Marsolino from Uniontown and the project bid price is approximately $4.6 million.
State police will patrol the project to ensure that motorists obey the 40 mph speed limit. Motorist are reminded about the new work zone safety laws that include:
-Use of headlights while traveling through a marked work zone is mandatory.
-If a motorist is caught speeding 11 mph over the work zone speed limit it is an automatic 15-day license suspension
-PENNDOT workers now have a police arrest form, which allows them to take information on drivers who violate work zone laws. This information can result in the driver receiving a citation.
Project to begin
PENNDOT District 12 is announcing that work will start on the Uniontown Bypass in North Union Township on March 17, at 7a.m.
Single lane restrictions will occur on Route 119 between the Connellsville Street interchange and the Route 51 interchange. Traffic will flow in the passing lanes (left lanes) in both the northbound and southbound directions.
The project includes rehabilitation of the existing concrete pavement, bridge deck repair, shoulder work and guide rail upgrades. The contractor for this project is Golden Eagle Construction from Uniontown and the project bid price is approximately $2.1 million.

Daley aide to visit
A legislative aide from the office of state Rep. Peter J. Daley (D-California) will be at the Menallen Township Municipal Building, Searights Crossroads, on Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. to meet with constituents from precinct No. 3 New Salem.
