Peter Klasan

Peter Klasan, 83, of Jefferson Township, Pa., died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in his home.

A son of the late Louis L. and Anastazia Poverzenic Klasan, he was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Monessen.

Formerly of North Belle Vernon, he retired in 1982, from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company. Mr. Klasan served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded the Silver and Bronze Starts.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frances Marie Cowell Klasan; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Drake Dowler of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Helen Seal of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kerry Burris of High Point, N.C., and Jared Dowler of Black Mountain, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica Burris, Katherine Burris, Jacob Edward Dowler and Eli Peter Dowler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Peter Louis Klasan in 1980, and Edward Lynn Klasan in 1991; and two sisters, Ann Goodis and Zora Klasan.

On Saturday, March 15, at 12:30 p.m., the Fayette City Honor Guard, Post No. 484 will be conducting the military services at the Washington Township Star Memorial beside the CAS Ambulance Service in Fairhope. The family will then receive friends at the Center on the Hill, opposite the memorial. If friends wish, contributions may be made to Fayette Home Hospice, PO Box 1070, Uniontown, PA 15401.
