Thomas S. Piper
Thomas S. Piper, 82, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., and formerly of Brownsville, Pa., died suddenly Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at his home. He was born on Dec. 29, 1920, in Footedale, Pa., the son of the late Rev. James Piper and Helen Debolt Piper, formerly of Denbo Heights.
He was a veteran of World War II and served six years with the 82nd Airborne paratroopers.
Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Barkley Piper; a daughter, Wendy K. and her husband, James Smith of Bruceton, W.Va.; a brother, Richard and his wife, Betty Piper of Brownsville, Pa.; and five stepchildren, Barbara Shallcross of Lakeland, Fla., Faye Cottle of Perryopolis, Pa., Sandra Stoken of Fairbank, Pa., Sherry Eicher of Fairbank, Pa., and Gerald Barkley of Adah, Pa.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, James Piper.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. J. W. Hormell officiating. Entombment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
