Cornelius John Furin
Cornelius John “Corney” “Neil” Furin, 62, of Monarch, Pa., died Saturday, March 15, 2003 in LaFayette Manor, Uniontown, Pa. He was born September 10, 1940 in Connellsville, Pa., son of Nicholas Furin and Magdalene Karaffa Furin.
Cornelius graduated from the former Dunbar Township High School in the Class of 1958 and also the former Durbin’s Business School.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Leisenring, former President of The Greek Catholic Union District 2, and former Secretary of Greek Catholic Union Lodge 18.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by Allegheny Power, Greensburg, Pa., as an Engineering Technician.
Later he worked for Konetsco Transportation as a School Van Driver.
His beloved wife, Gail Ann McConkey Furin, died March 3, 2003. Also deceased are his parents.
Survivors include his son, Gregory Furin; his twin sister, Charlotte Steich and her fianc?, George Bodnar, of Lemont Furnace, Pa.; special nieces: Toni Brothers of Fort Ashby, West Virginia, and Sylvia Sitko of Juniata Road, Little Summit, Pa.; special great nieces: Ashley Brothers, Kayley Brothers and Shelby Brothers all of Fort Ashby, West Virginia, and Bethany Moscalink of Uniontown, Pa.; a special great-great niece, Abbey Sitko of Juniata Road, Little Summit, Pa.; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from Noon to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. where a Panachida Service will be held Tuesday, March 18, at 9:15 a.m.
Divine Liturgy follows at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Leisenring, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Kapusnak as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
Parastas Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
