Donald W. Browning
Donald W. Browning, age 79, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Friday, march 14, 2003 in Geneva, Ohio. He was born March 15, 1923 in West Leisenring, Pa., son of Mason Browning and Ruby Guthrie Browning.
Donald was a 1940 graduate of the former North Union Township Highs School in Uniontown, Pa., and took college courses in 1941.
He fought with the 101st Airborne Division and took part in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
He was a Life Member of the 101st Airborne Division Association, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, Life Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Association, Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 in Uniontown, Pa., Life member of American Legion Post 51 also in Uniontown, and a member of B. P. O. Elks No. 370, Uniontown.
He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as a Clerk in 1983.
Donald was also a member of Third Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder.
His wife, whom he loved and was devoted to, Catherine Brady Browning, died in 1981. Also deceased are a brother, Edward Browning, and his parents.
He is survived by a daughter he loved, Karen Browning Bradshaw and her husband, Richard Bradshaw, of Perry, Ohio; two grandsons: Jason Domonic Bradshaw of Boston, Massachusetts, and Michael William Bradshaw of Willoughby, Ohio; a sister, Wilma Stalnaker of Kingston, Ohio; two nieces: Nancy Dawn Stalnaker of Kingston, Ohio, and Mrs. William (Robin) Robbins of Piketon, Ohio; a great nephew, Cody Robbins; and a great niece, Ali Dawn Robbins.
Friends were received in the JAMES D. BARNETT FUNERAL HOME, 196 West Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, March 17, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Rodahaver officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa., where Military Rites will be accorded by Uniontown American Legion Post 51.
B. P. O. Elks No. 370 will conduct Services in the Funeral Home today at 7:30 p.m.
