Serrano-Bowlen
United in marriage in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Oct. 19, were Rachel Claire Bowlen and Nandy Alejandro Serrano. The Rev. Jose Rivas officiated the ceremony.
Rachel is the daughter of Harry and Susan Bowlen of Fairchance, and Nandy is the son of Alejandro and Pilar Serrano of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless, silk wedding gown, in white, adorned with an overlay of jeweled silk organza. Her tiara was composed of all rhinestones that lead to a veil bordered in silk.
Maid of honor was Bonnie J. Updegraff of Delray Beach, Fla. Bridesmaids were Bethany L. Jadyk, Pittsburgh, Angela D. Bevis, Jacksonville, Fla., and Maritza I. Serrano, sister of the bridegroom, Carolina, Puerto Rico. Flower girl was a niece of the bridegroom, Alexandra P. Cruz, Carolina, Puerto Rico.
Best man was Armando Rios of Pembroke Pines, Fla. Groomsmen were A.J. Hernandez, Miami, Fla., Greg Raley, Delray Beach, Fla., Scott Bowlen, brother of the bride, York, Marc Dunbar, Tallahassee, Fla., and Allen Bevis, Jacksonville, Fla. Ring bearer was nephew of the bride, Tyler Scott Bowlen, of York.
The oceanside ceremony was followed by a reception at the Tropimar Beach Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The bride graduated from Tri-Valley Senior High School in 1991 and Waynesburg College in 1996 with a bachelor of science in nursing. She is presently a critical care RN in Miami, Fla.
The groom graduated from Florida High in 1988 and Florida State University in 1993 where he lettered in baseball for two years. After college, he played baseball for the California Angels for two years.
He is currently a financial planner and partner of Diamond Financial Group in Plantation, Fla. He is also an agency director for MetLife Financial Services.
After a 10-day vacation with both families and friends in San Juan, the couple took a 10-day cruise to Fanning Island, the Republic of Kiribati and the Hawaiian Islands.
The couple resides at 1507 E. Lake Court, Hollywood, Fla.
