Opal J. Keener, 81, of Orrville, Ohio, and formerly of Point Marion R.D. 1 (Davison), Pa., died Monday, March 17, 2003, in the Brennfield Nursing Home in Orrville. Born at Mill Creek, W.Va., on Nov. 20, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Sherdan and Maude E. Morgan Shiflett.

She had previously worked at Smuckers in Orrville, and has retired from Houze Glass Corporation, in Point Marion.

She was the loving mother of four children, Mrs. Edward (Patricia) Popovich of Smithfield, Pa., Brenda Maynard of Wooster, Ohio, Mrs. Jim (Diana) Keltz of Orrville, Ohio, and Danny Keener of Savannah, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan P. Keener in November of 1981; two sons, William and Robert Keener; two sisters, Viola McCauley and Irene Keener; and three brothers, Carl, Herman and Hughie Shiflett.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. David Lee Cobb officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen memorial Park, Point Marion.
