Local church to distribute Bibles
Following the instructions of the Great Commission, Fairchance Church of Worship will begin distributing Bibles throughout the community this Saturday. In particular, the church is following the biblical passage “And he said unto them, ‘Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15.
Officials said, “Fairchance Church of Worship has a vision to do just that, beginning by placing a Bible in every home in Fairchance. In these times of heightened political climate and declining moral substance, people in this world are desperately crying out for a power greater than themselves.
“There are many people out there seeking guidance, peace of mind and consolation for wounded hearts and lives by whatever means they can find it. We believe that the word of God offers all of these things and much, much more. Our desire is to offer that hope to the world, one soul at a time.’
Over the past several months, the church has been receiving donations from businesses and church members to purchase an estimated 1,000 Bibles for distribution.
Before being given out, each Bible will have been prayed over and will have a salvation plan and church contact information placed inside.
“In this way, people will know where they can go to find answers to questions they may have as they begin to read their Bible,’ officials said. “They will also know that there is a place of fellowship that will welcome them so that they may learn and grow in their newfound life within a supportive community.’
In preparation for this undertaking, a prayer walk was held on March 1. The Rev. Mark Kephart and several other members of the church walked through Fairchance praying for the homes and claiming the ground on which they walked for the kingdom of God.
Fairchance Church of Worship has also partnered with another church, Maranatha Millennium Ministries, who has agreed to prayerfully support the venture as they in turn prayerfully support the other’s community outreach opportunities.
“Members of the Fairchance Church of Worship would like to challenge other ministries to start a Bible distribution program in your community. If you live in a larger area, partner with other churches to cover the neighborhood,’ officials said.
