Pete Garafola
Pete Garafola, 83, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Wednesday evening, March 19, 2003, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Oliver No. 3, Pa., the son of the late Patsy Garafola and Daneila Polito Garafola.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Violet Mangello Garafola; his brother, Angelo Garafola; and a younger brother, Angelo, who died at the young age of eight.
Pete was the owner/operator of Garafola Service Station on Gallatin Avenue, along with his brother, Tony.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, and a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his loving, devoted daughter, Carmel Garafola; brother, Anthony Garafola and wife, Grace and his sister, Josie Settimi and husband, Emilio of Uniontown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., UNIONTOWN, PA., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 8:30 a.m., when a blessing service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Joseph R.C. Church,, with the Rev. Fr. William J. Kiel as celebrant, due to restoration of St. John’s. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held today at 3:45 p.m.
