Albert A. Konter, age 75, of Uniontown, Pa., formerly of Masontown, Pa., and Ormand Beach, Florida, passed away in Uniontown Hospital on Saturday, March 22, 2003.

He was born May 10, 1927 in Hecla, Pa., the son of John Konter and Anna (Clay) Konter.

Albert graduated from the former German Township High School in McClellandtown, Pa.

He was a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Navy and a member of Masontown V. F. W. Faith-Gray-McArdle Post 4584, American Legion Post 423, and the V. F. W. Firing Squad.

Albert was an Assistant Mine Foreman at United States Steel Corporation’s Robena Mine and a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 6310.

He was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown and All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Masontown.

A brother, Donald Konter, a sister, Elizabeth Rokusek, and parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Duttko) Konter, with whom he was to celebrate 50 years of marriage on June 27, 2003; two sons: Lawrence Konter of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mark Konter and his wife, Christine, of Grindstone, Pa.; his two precious granddaughters: Michelle Konter and Emily Konter; two brothers: John Konter of Irwin, Pa., and Andrew Konter of Northfield, Ohio; a sister, Anna Marie Konter Rozzi of Uniontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 25, until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in St. Cecelia Roman Catholic Church, Grindstone, with Rev. Fr. John A. Sedlak as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by Faith-Gray-McArdle V. F. W. Post 4584 and American Legion Post 423 both of Masontown, Pa.

Parish Vigil Service will be held in the Funeral Home today at 2:30 p.m.

Visitation was also held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
