Bertha Speshock Mavin

Bertha D. Speshock Mavin, 96, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003 in the Uniontown Hospital. Born December 3, 1906 in Uniontown, Pa., she was the daughter of Stephen Speshock and Mary Harmon Speshock.

She was an Elementary Teacher in the former North Union Township School system and a member of the Teachers Association.

Bertha was a member of St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Zivena Lodge, and The Croatian Fraternal Union.

She was an avid bowler.

Her beloved husband, Walter J. Mavin, her brothers, Stephen, Francis, Leo and Bernard Speshock, sisters, Pearl Speshock, Rose Haky, Ann Speshock, Leona Kacur, Mary Foster, and parents preceded her in death.

Bertha is survived by the following nephews and nieces: Andrew T. Haky Jr. of Uniontown, Pa., Rose Ann Williamson of Seattle, Washington, Clarence W. Foster of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Elizabeth Gresh of Boca Raton, Florida, Joan Grimm (her Goddaughter), Janet Ann Korner, Jennifer Neff, and David Speshock all of Uniontown, Pa.; several great nieces and great nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, March 26, until 8:30 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9 a.m. in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street, Uniontown (due to restoration of St. John Roman Catholic Church) with Rev. Fr. William J. Kiel as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
