Claire Sauers McHugh Solomon, 78, of Ohiopyle, Pa., passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2003, in the Uniontown Hospital. Born Aug. 26, 1924, in Uniontown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. Sauers and Katherine Sherry Sauers.

In addition to her parents, Claire was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters, Agnes Stauft, Rita Sedlak, Margaret Conway, Elizabeth Pokorski, Lawrence Sauers, William Sauers and John Bud Sauers.

She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church of Farmington, Pa., a former member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, was an avid golfer, a member of the Uniontown Country Club Golf Association, and an avid bridge player and bowler.

She is survived by her beloved husband, the Rev. C. William Solomon; children, Patricia A. McHugh of Washington, D.C., Lawrence E. McHugh of Marietta, Ga., Retired Lieutenant Colonel Paul D. McHugh of Falls Church, Va., and William M. McHugh of Uniontown; ten grandchildren; her brother, Donald Sauers of New York City, N.Y.; and stepchildren, Douglas Solomon of Decatur, Ga., Charyl Oakley of Concord, N.C., and Robyn Steve of Albany, N.Y.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 11 a.m., in St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. Paul Whelan as celebrant. A reception will follow at 12:30 p.m., at the Uniontown Country Club.
