Accident kills Fairchance man
BULLSKIN TWP. – A two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening along Route 119 claimed the life of a Fairchance man. According to state police, Robert Hyland Jr., 24, was pronounced dead early Thursday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he was flown after the 9 p.m. crash.
Hyland was northbound near the intersection with Kingview Road when the truck he was driving was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Michael R. Geyer, 33, of Ruffsdale, police said.
Police said Geyer suffered minor injuries, but no information was released on whether he was treated at the scene or taken to a hospital.
Neither man was wearing a seatbelt, according to police.
A spokesman for the Allegheny Coroner’s Office said an autopsy would be conducted today to determine the cause of death.
