More candidates drop out of primary

1 min read

In addition to Democrat county commission candidate Harry Fike, three candidates for local races also dropped out of the May 20 primary by the Wednesday deadline. According to the Fayette County Election Bureau, these candidates joined Fike in withdrawing their names from the primary election ballot:

??Stella Broadwater, a Democrat who had filed to run for Brownsville Borough Council.

??Angela Giachetti, a Democrat who had filed to run for North Union Township supervisor.

??Kim Renze, a Democrat who had filed to run for South Union Township constable.

Fike’s withdrawal narrowed the Democrat commission candidate field to five, including incumbents Vincent A. Vicites, Sean M. Cavanagh and Ronald M. Nehls. Their challengers are Vincent Zapotosky, a former aide to U.S. Reps. Austin Murphy and Frank Mascara, and former state Sen. J. William Lincoln, who also once chaired the state Democrat Party.
