Trinity Lutheran Church to host rededication service on Sunday
Culminating a recent renovation project, Trinity Lutheran Church in Connellsville will host a rededication service on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The church, located at 126 E. Fairview St., recently completed a project that includes work on the smaller stained-glass windows, as well as an interior painting project that covered every surface in the nave and sanctuary.
“The painters who came in here were marvelous,’ said the Rev. Philip S. Ramstad, who became pastor of the church in February, 2002.
Besides surface work, the painters did a lot of detail work that included highlighting the archway in front of the altar and the angels at the opening of the dome on the ceiling, as well as the top of the 40-foot dome that includes large triangles and circles representing the Trinity.
Rev. Ramstad reported the work was done by Carl Geyer and Sons of Connellsville.
In addition, a large mural representing the Resurrection that hangs above the altar was redone by Marty Harvey of Harvey Signs and Karen Coffman of Coffman Graphics of Connellsville.
The painting started last November, with the congregation, in the meantime, holding worship in the large Sunday school room in the back of the church. At Christmas, worship services were held in the social room.
Other work included the installation of a new sound system and lighting for at the front of the church.
In the future, the church would like to redo the large stained-glass windows, which includes one depicting The Nativity.
Sunday’s rededication service will feature the Rev. Herb Dubler, a former pastor who is now retired, as speaker.
The Rev. Kirk Bish, assistant to the bishop of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Church of America, will conduct the actual rededication.
Other special guests include three pastors who are sons of the congregation: The Rev. Robert Musser, who was ordained in 1973 and is pastor of Fox Chapel Good Shepherd Lutheran Church; the Rev. Bill Hughes II, who was ordained in 2000 and now serves as pastor of the Elderton charge; and the Rev. Ron Brown, also ordained in 200, who is pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Cranberry Township.
Soloists Christa Cabe, Cheryl Nagy and Beth Brady will provide special music for the service. Joanna Ball is the organist.
Those who have already made reservations will attend a dinner immediately following the worship service.
Trinity Lutheran Church has 640 members, with 140 in normal weekly attendance at worship services Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8:45 a.m.
