Clyde H. Shaffer Sr.

Clyde H. Shaffer Sr., age 83 years, of Smithfield, Pa., died Friday, March 28, 2003 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born May 6, 1919 in Brier Hill, Pa., son of the now late Nathan Harrison Shaffer and Gussie Fowler Shaffer.

Clyde was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ, Lake Lynn, Pa., retired Coal Miner from Duquesne Light, member of United Mine Workers of America District 4 Local Union 6310, and Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army in the South Pacific Theatre.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Wilkins Shaffer (1974), five brothers, John, Lloyd, Elmer, Cecil and Guy Shaffer, two sisters, Jessie Reese and Gertrude Kennison, and his parents.

He is survived by three children: James M. Shaffer and wife, Sharon, of Clarksville, Virginia, Wilma Jean and husband, David Minor, of Smithfield, Pa., and Clyde H. Shaffer Jr. and wife, Rose, of Mansfield, Ohio; one brother, James E. Shaffer and wife, Doris, of Smithfield, Pa.; dear friend, Louise Crayne of Jefferson, Pa.; eight Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.

The Family will receive Friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, March 31, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. George W. McLaughlin officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
