Charles William Boord
Charles “Chuck” William Boord, 73, of Hopwood, Pa., died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at his residence. He was born March 16, 1930 in New Geneva, Fayette County, Pa., son of John E. Boord and Marie Mary McMillen Boord of Martin, Pa.
Charles served in the United States Navy in the Korean War on the U.S.S. Roosevelt.
He worked as a General Manager for Sinclair Construction in Hopwood for 30 years.
“Chuck” was a member of General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood and gave 100 pints of blood to the American Red Cross.
He was a computer buff and a microscope student.
His father, John E. Boord, sister, Dorothy R. Thomas, brother, Karl Boord, and brother-in-law, James Thomas, preceded him in death.
Besides his mother, Marie McMillen Boord, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Boord of Uniontown, Pa.; a daughter, Laurel Boord Jordan of Hopwood; granddaughters: Amanda of Jacksonville, Florida, Brittaney of Hopwood, Christy of Missouri, and Jenna of Hopwood; a great grandson, Austin, of Jacksonville, Florida; several uncles and friends; and three special friends: Joe, Ruth and Clarence all of Hopwood.
Friends were received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church at 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., on Tuesday, March 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 20, until 10 a.m., the hour of Service in the Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Hamilton officiated.
Interment followed in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pa., where Military Honors were accorded by Hopwood AMVETS Post 103.
