Rose Sweda Semans
Rose Sweda Semans, 96, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 28, 2003 in LaFayette Manor. She was born on September 3, 1906 in Leisenring, Pa., daughter of Adam Sweda and Barbara Mattis (Matyas) Sweda.
Rose was a member of St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church and past member of The Rosary Society.
She was a wonderful Wife and Mother, proud Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Her Family was her life! Her warm nature and spirited happiness, which she bestowed to her family and friends, remain forever ours to be cherished.
On October 25, 1927 in St. Stephen Byzantine Greek Catholic Church, Leisenring One, Pa., Rose married Stephen Semans.
Her parents, husband, Stephen, daughters, Irene Rose and Mildred Ann Semans, brothers, John Sweda and Adam Sweda, and sisters, Mary Petko, Helen Enany, Margaret Kozak, Katherine Check and Anna Petko, preceded her in death.
She leaves behind four children: Stephen J. Semans of Eugene, Oregon, Joseph P. Semans and wife, Eleanor, of Uniontown, Pa., Michael E. Semans and wife, “Babe” (Veronica), of Phoenix, Arizona, and Margaret M. Gregg and husband, Lloyd, of Uniontown, Pa.; six beloved grandchildren; 12 cherished great grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Bero of Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 2, until 10:30 a.m. when a Panachida Service will be held.
Divine Liturgy follows at 11 a.m. in St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, East Main Street, with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Wesdock as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.
Parastas Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
