Vincent J. “Jim” Valente Sr.
Vincent J. “Jim” Valente Sr., age 81, of Tower Hill Two, Fayette County, Pa., passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 in Brownsville General Hospital. He was born January 27, 1922 in Thompson One, Fayette County, Pa., son of Bernadino Valente and Angelina Equizzi Valente.
Vincent was a member of The Church of The Madonna, Cardale, Pa., retired after 42 years from United States Steel Corporation’s Robena Mine, member of United Mine Workers of America Local 6321, Veteran of the United States Army who served in the 14th Armored Division (The Liberators), Life Member of Uniontown V. F. W. Post 47, member of Pietro Micca Lodge Sons of Italy, Republic, and the Fairbank Rod & Gun Club.
Vincent was an avid bowler and hunter.
Since his Army discharge he corresponded yearly with all the men in his Company.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Nosky Valente, his beloved Granddaughter, Joanna Piccolomini, a brother, Daniel Valente, and his parents.
Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Italia “Tillie” Pietrantoni Valente; sons: Vincent J. Valente Jr. and wife, Donna, of Tower Hill 2, Pa., Daniel Piccolomini and Dario Piccolomini and wife, Janice, all of Uniontown, Pa.; Grandchildren: Rebecca, Eleanor and Teresa Valente, Danny Ray and Michael Piccolomini, Dario Jr. and Nathan Piccolomini; sisters: Viola Whetzel of Filbert Heights, Pa., and Irma Tolnai of Newboro, Pa.; a brother, Domenic Valente of Baltimore, Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., Legion Street, Republic, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 2, until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in The Church of The Madonna, Cardale, with Rev. Fr. Stephen Bugay as Celebrant.
Entombment will be in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by Uniontown V. F. W. Post 47.
