Lena Gipson Walton
Lena Gipson Walton, 92, of Uniontown, Pa., and formerly of Fairchance, Pa., passed away Tuesday morning, April 29, 2003 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothea and Joseph Thomas of Uniontown. She was born May 16, 1910 in Beeson, Fayette County, Pa., daughter of Albert and Ola Gipson.
Her husband, Thurman Walton Sr., two sons, Thurman Jr. and Roscoe Walton, one daughter, Valeeda Walton Poole, one adopted son, Robert Fitzgerald, four sisters, Madelyn Jones, Thelma Petty, Grace Tarpley, Julia Fitzgerald, three brothers, Floyd, Frank and Clarence Gipson, and parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothea Thomas and husband, Joseph, of Uniontown; two sons: Carl “Johnny” Walton and wife, Linda, of Detroit, Michigan, and Jane Fitzgerald of Bowling Green, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Vivian Gipson; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street Uniontown, Pa., today from 5 to 9 p.m.
Visitation continues in Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Fairchance, Pa., on Saturday, May 3, from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. James R. Calloway officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
