Leonard R. “Moe” Locke, 65, of Lemont Furnace, Pa., passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 29, 2003. He was born June 17, 1937 in Rowes Run, Pa., son of John Locke and Anna Misenko Locke.

Leonard was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown and a Veteran of the United States Army stationed in Germany during peace time.

A 1956 graduate of the former Redstone High School, he enjoyed hunting, football, baseball and long walks with his dog and faithful companion, Snowball.

He was a member of Local No. 527, Lemont Sportsmen’s Club, and the National Rifle Association, and was formerly employed with Steel Scaffolding for 25 years before his retirement.

A sister, Helen Kolcum, a brother, John G. Locke, and parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Carmella Lipperini Locke; a daughter, Lisa Locke Shaffer and her husband, Wayne Shaffer, of Dumfries, Virginia; a son, Leonard M. Locke of Mount Airy, Maryland; three sisters and four brothers: Margaret Yagodzinski of Pittsburgh, Pa., Andrew Locke and his wife, Marie, of Grindstone, Pa., Ethel Emmert of Michigan, Edward Locke of Grindstone, Joseph Locke and his wife, Janet, of Royal, Pa., Robert Locke and his wife, Carma, of Dunbar, Pa., and Evelyn Chulick of Cleveland, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received in the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 3, until 9 a.m. at which time a Blessing Service will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9:30 a.m. in St. Therese de Lixieux Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street, Uniontown.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.

Visitation was also held Thursday, May 1, from 7 t o 9 p.m.
