State Sen. Richard A. Kasunic (D-Dunbar) has announced three state grants totaling $240,000 for recreational and environmental projects in Fayette and Westmoreland counties. “I am pleased that state funding will aid local efforts to enhance our parks,” Kasunic said. “I thank local leaders for working with me to fund these worthwhile projects.”

The grants include:

? $185,000 to Scottsdale in Westmoreland County to further develop Keni and Barclay Parks.

? $33,000 to Brownsville Borough in Fayette County to renovate and further develop Fenwick Park.

? $22,000 to Fayette County to further develop German/Masontown Park.

The funding is provided through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR)

The grant program is aimed at providing financial and technical assistance for local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other non-profit groups for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.

Kasunic said he would continue to seek state funds to supplement local projects.
