Daniel W. Bankhead
Daniel W. Bankhead, 46, of Smithfield, Pa., died Saturday, May 3, 2003 in Uniontown Hospital as a result of an accident. He was born August 12, 1956 in Warren, Ohio, son of John L. and Doris Jean Bankhead.
“Dan” served in the United States Marine Corps from 1980 to 1991.
He was a Life Member of V. F. W. Post 747 in Point Marion, Pa., Springhill Furnace Presbyterian Church, and the Independent Pool League.
“Dan” was predeceased by his father, John L. Bankhead, sister, Elizabeth Bankhead, and grandparents, Lloyd and Della Blaney.
In addition to his mother, Doris Jean Bankhead of Smithfield, he is survived by his wife, Dee Moon Bankhead; two sons: Dan Bankhead Jr. and Travis Bankhead both of Fairchance, Pa.; brothers and sisters: James Bankhead, Daytona Beach, Florida, Robert Bankhead and wife Sandra, Sandra Plitka and companion John Morris, William Bankhead, and Thomas Bankhead and companion Kim Roberts all of Smithfield, Pa., and Barbara Jackson, Leavittsburg, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Lauretta “Mom” Moon, and brother-in-law, J. D. Moon, both of McClellandtown, Pa.
The Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 6, until 1 p.m., the hour of Service with Dr. George M. Hickok officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Military Section where Military Honors will be accorded by VFW Post 747 and American Legion Post 499.
