Advisory issued
Customers of the North Fayette County Municipal Authority in the Cherry Tree Professional Complex in South Union Township will experience a brief interruption of their water service Tuesday, May 13, from 8:30 to 9 a.m. while an independent insurance underwriter performs fire flow tests to determine the availability of public water for fire protection.
Customers should store water before 8:30 a.m. for use during the interruption period. Discolored and cloudy water will occur Tuesday. The authority asks that customers not do laundry that day, if possible, and to check their tap water before doing any laundry Tuesday. Those who have discolored water should let the tap water run for a few minutes.
Also, the authority’s annual fire hydrant inspection program will continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until the end of May, weather permitting. Authority customers may notice low pressure and discolored water for a brief period of time. Those who detect discolored water should let a faucet run until the water is clear and avoid washing clothes or drinking the discolored water.
With the exception of inclement weather or mechanical or infrastructure problems, authority crews will inspect and flush in Smithfield, Georges Township and South Union Township from Tuesday, May 13, to Friday, May 30. Any customers experiencing problems or continued discolored water should call the authority at 724-626-1211 or 724-438-7361.
Van to visit AG
Today, students from Albert Gallatin Area High School will be treated to a mobile movie theater when the Army’s Cinema Van rolls onto the school campus.
This 18-wheeled van is equipped to show educational videos ranging from patriotic values to understanding viruses, democracy, genetics, physics and computers.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Mark Fortinberry and Sgt. 1st Class Morris Jones from Fort Knox, Ky., will drive the van. Morris explained the cinema van has a film library of 23 videos. Each screening can accommodate up to 40 students.
Staff Sgt. Albert Taylor of the Uniontown recruiting station said he was thrilled to have the van visit Albert Gallatin.
“It’s a great opportunity for students to learn and see today’s Army technology at work,” he said.
