Elizabeth Mateosky Greitzer
Elizabeth Mateosky Greitzer, age 104, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away in Laurel Ridge Center, Uniontown, late Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2003. She was born March 1, 1899 in Youngstown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, daughter of George Mateosky and Anna Filipcik Mateosky.
She graduated from the former North Union High School and also Indiana Normal School, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Elizabeth was a dedicated Teacher in North Union Township for 40 years at Youngstown, Oliver, and North Union Township Junior High School.
She lived in Connellsville, Pa., for many years after her retirement.
She was a member of St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, the Pennsylvania Association of Retired Teachers, and also First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union Branch No. 68.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Greitzer in 1977, sisters, Mary Havrilla and Kathryn Mateosky, brothers, John and Joseph Mateosky, and parents.
She is survived by a niece, Clara Sandorf and her husband, Alfred, of Uniontown, Pa.; two nephews: John G. Mateosky Jr. and wife, Pauline, of Binghamton, New York, and Frank Havrilla and wife, Anne, of West Middlesex, Pa.; many grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., today (Wednesday, May 14) until 9:30 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson Street, with Rev. Fr. William J. Kiel as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Mary (Nativity) Church Cemetery, Uniontown.
Visitation was also held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Parish Wake Service was held Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
