Dorothy D. Berry

Dorothy D. Berry, 81, of Maytown Road, Maytown, Pa., formerly of Mount Joy, Pa., died Monday, May 19, 2003 at Heatherbank Nursing Center, Columbia, Pa. She was born in Nichelson Township, Fayette County, the daughter of the late Emerson H. and Jane Crow Deffenbaugh. She was the wife of the late Butch Granger and the late Charles Berry. Mrs. Berry was a 1939 graduate of the former Georges Township High School.

Prior to retiring in 1986, she was employed for many years as a secretary by Milton Hershey School working at Founders Hall. Previously she and her husband operated the former Granger Poultry Farm in Mount Joy.

Mrs. Berry made over 500 teddy bears using the name “Berry Bears.” She was a member of the former Good Bears of America.

In addition to cooking, she enjoyed watching and feeding wild birds.

She was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Morgan and a brother Clinton Deffenbaugh.

She is survived by a daughter Patricia Kurtz of Maytown, Pa.; two brothers Ralph E. and his wife Virginia Deffenbaugh of Uniontown and David L. and wife Eleanor Deffenbaugh of Claremore, OK.

There will be no viewing. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Interment in Churchhill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pa.
