J. Richard Palonder
J. Richard Palonder, age 84, of Perryopolis, Pa., died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 7:45 p.m. in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Carroll Township, Washington County, Pa. He was born July 31, 1918 in Greensburg, Pa., son of John M. Palonder and Emma Sinkule Palonder.
He graduated from Perry Township High School Class of 1936 and was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Air Force.
He was co-owner of Palonder’s Hardware Store in Perryopolis and Rostraver Township, member and past President of Perryopolis Lions Club, and a member of Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and also V. F. W. Goldstar Post 7023.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet D. L. Palonder on April 12, 1992, a son, James R. Palonder on February 10, 1999, a brother, W. Robert Palonder on May 11, 1999, and his parents.
He is survived by children: Roland M. Palonder and wife, Barbara, of Belle Vernon, Pa., Robert A. Palonder and wife, Lenora, John M. Palonder and wife, Jeanne, and Ms. Lou Ann Palonder all of Perryopolis; and four grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 28, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Pastor Lance O’Brien officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis, where Military Honors will be accorded by V. F. W. Goldstar Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752 both of Perryopolis.
Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a Service in the Funeral Home this evening at 7:30 p.m.
Visitation was also held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
