Elva Ricks
Elva Burket Ricks, 85, Chalk Hill, Pa., passed away Monday, May 26, 2003, at her home.
She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Everett, Pa., the daughter of the late John C. Burket and the late Mary Pearl May Burket.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Marietta Boyle Burket; her husband, David H. (Cappy) Ricks; a sister, Phyllis Jean Calahan; and two brothers, Richard and Ned Burket.
Elva graduated from Uniontown High School Class of 1935, and attended Wittenburg University. She was a member of Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church, and a long time member and past president of the Green Gardeners Club.
She is survived by three sons, John D. Ricks of Kansas City, Mo., Robert E. Ricks of Atlanta, Ga., and Ned B. Ricks of Chicago, Il.; six grandchildren, Shawn Ricks, Angela Ricks Vanderhoorn, Jeff Ricks, Jason Ricks, Angelo B. Stokien and Elizabeth Ricks; three great-grandsons, Jeremy and Jonathan Ricks and Cruz Vanderhoorn; two sisters, Thelma Bomba of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nannette Whited of Carlsbad, Calif.; as well as numerous nephews and nieces..
