Sophie (Vrabel) Zembar, 80, of Martin, Pa., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at 1 p.m., in Lafayette Manor Inc., Uniontown, Pa. She was born in Martin, Pa., on Feb. 19, 1923, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Karabin) Vrabel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Zembar, who died on May 14, 1988; brothers, Stephen, Valentine, Michael and John; and sisters, Vironica Pshock, Elizabeth Yukish, Anna Matthews and Catherine Arndt.

Sophie was a homemaker, and a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Leckrone.

She is survived by a son, John Zembar and wife, Linda of Buffington, Pa.; a daughter, Janet Oberlecher and husband, Steve of McClellandtown, Pa.; two sons, Robert Zembar and wife, Debbie of Point Marion Pa., and Richard Zembar and wife, Lou Ann of Martin, Pa.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Christoff of Martin, Pa.

Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., the hour of a prayer service, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s R. C. Church, Leckrone, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Donald Trexler as celebrant. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa. Parish Wake Service today at 8:30 p.m.
