Melford E. Baker, 81, of Jeannette, Pa., born in Hopwood, Pa., died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at his home. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Baker was employed as a tire salesman by Commercial Tire in Uniontown, Pa. He graduated from South Union High School, Class of 1942.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, F. Madeline Baker; a son, Robert M. Baker of Erie; a daughter, Barbara Douglas and her husband, Joseph of North Hunt; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Friends will be received in the James W. Shirley Funeral Home Inc., Clay Pike, Circleville, N. Hunt, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel.
