Thanksgiving CHURCH OF CHRIST AT NEMACOLIN will hold a Thanksgiving rally Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. The church is celebrating its seventh year at Nemacolin. It holds weekly Sunday morning and evening services with preaching and The Lord’s Supper. There are also weekly prayer meetings on Wednesday with classes for all ages. Guest speaker for the rally will be Don Pinon from Denver, Colo. He has been preaching throughout the Midwest for more than 40 years. DAWSON UNITED METHO-DIST CHARGE will hold its annual Thanksgiving worship service at Bryan United Methodist Charge in Lower Tyrone Township at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The Rev. Jim Martin will bring the message.

TRI-TOWN MINISTERIUM will hold a community Thanksgiving worship service at East Liberty Presbyterian Church in Vanderbilt at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23. The Rev. Keith McIlwain will bring the message. The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. Participants include pastors and laity from area Presbyterian, United Methodist, Nazarene and Christian congregations.

Once again, Pleasant View is participating in the Salvation Army’s Treasures for Children project. A Treasure Tree is set up at the back of the sanctuary and decorated with treasure tags that represent special needs children throughout Fayette County. Those wishing to participate may take one of the treasure tags from the tree and buy either an item of clothing or a toy or both and bring these back to Pleasant View by Nov. 30. These gifts will be distributed to the youths on the church’s behalf in time for Christmas by the Salvation Army.

Pleasant View is hosting a Super Cupboard at the church on Tuesday with classes for “Healthy, Quick and Easy Meals,’ sponsored and conducted at Pleasant View by the Penn State Cooperative Extension. Classes are held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and they’re free. Lunch and refreshments are provided without charge.

The church’s family committee is sponsoring an Advent Bus Trip to see the Advent/Christmas light display at Hartwood Acres on Sunday, Nov. 30. They’ll board the bus in Pleasant View’s parking lot at 3 p.m., travel to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in New Stanton for dinner with participants paying for their own meal. After dinner, they’ll travel to the light display, arriving by 6 p.m. They’ll tour the lights without leaving the bus, no walking involved. ROSCOE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 300 Main St., worships Sunday at 11 a.m., when the volunteer Haiti Mission Team will bring “The Haiti Story.’ The church and its Janet Ray Circle, through mission contributions to Washington Presbytery Causes, supported the medical work of this seven-member team led by First Presbyterian Church Elder Glenn McClelland. A table of Haitian art and culture will be on display in the church manse for viewing following worship, when the congregation can meet and talk with team members during a fellowship coffee hour.

The chancel choir will sing, directed by Marty Catherine Schmidt. Pianist Tina Bolin accompanies the choir. George McFayden will be the organist for the service. The loose offering will go to support the mission of the deacons.

On Monday, the Janet Ray Circle meets at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, the Washington Presbytery will meet at the Venice Presbyterian Church, the home of moderator, the Rev. Mundel furniture store on Uniontown’s East End, in partnership with Sonlight Missions, is sponsoring a mission trip to San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, Jan. 17-31. They plan to construct a parsonage/church and minister in various ways in an orphanage and throughout the community through Vacation Bible School, evangelism, teaching, etc. The cost is $500 per person and includes all transportation, housing and food expenses.
