Cora B. Shallenberger
Cora Belle (Mickey) Shallenberger, formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died of natural causes at the age of 100 years on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Brethren Village in Lancaster, Pa., where she has been a resident since 1995. She was born to Mindy and Mack Mickey on Nov. 8, 1903, in Liberty, Pa.
One sister and three brothers preceded her in death.
She was a 1921 graduate of Dunbar Township High School, where she was active in The Glee Club and in dramatic activities.
On Jan. 11, 1923, she married Nathaniel D. Shallenberger, who died in 1983. To this marriage was born three sons, Leslie M. Shallenberger (1924-2001), Clyde R. Shallenberger of Baltimore, Md., and V. Edward Shallenberger of Vicksburg, Pa. There are eight grandchildren and 15 living great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Uniontown Church of the Brethren for more than 70 years.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 2 to 4 p.m., on Sunday afternoon at THE JAMES D. BARNETT FUNERAL HOME, 196 West Main St., Uniontown. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m., at The Church of the Brethren, 20 Robinson St., Uniontown, with the Rev. A. Harrison Smith and the Rev. Dr. Harvey Klien officiating. Interment in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made, in her name, to The Benevolent Fund, Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606-5093.
