Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a brief dedication ceremony in front of the Fayette County Courthouse to honor military personnel, followed by a parade, featuring Santa Claus, starting on South Street and continuing west on Main Street to Marshall Plaza. South and Main streets will be closed to traffic. The parade lineup includes five local bands, veterans’ groups, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, fire departments, civic organizations, floats and carriages.

Uniontown’s holiday tree, at the small park next to The Heritage at the corner of Pittsburgh and Main streets, will be illuminated after the parade.

Grade school children are invited to make patriotic decorations, bring them to the Fayette Building on West Main Street between 6 and 7:30 p.m. and hang them on a holiday tree in the rotunda. A string quartet will perform, and hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

Santa will join Frosty the Snowman to visit with children at the State Theatre Center for the Arts. Elves will pass out cookies and treats as well as shopping coupons.

Letters to Santa can be dropped off at Franklin John Realty on West Main Street.

St. Paul’s bell choir will perform at Neubauer’s II, the old Murphy’s building on Main Street, and the Albert Gallatin chorus, sax quartet and brass quintet will play at National City Bank. Also, the Free Spirit Gospel choir will perform at First National Bank of Pennsylvania, and Cramer’s Studio will host a choir.

Greenfield Farms will offer carriage rides for a small fee.

Local authors will sign books at the chamber office, and many downtown stores will remain open late.
