Alice Zervoudi Omiros

Alice Zervoudi Omiros, age 72, of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday evening, November 14, 2003.

Born and raised in Chios, Greece, she was a long time resident of Uniontown, Pa.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Chris G. Omiros, a daughter, Chrissa Omiros Piwowar and husband, Rick Piwowar, and son, George J. Omiros and wife, Sophia Florent Omiros, all of Uniontown.

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Kenny Moore, Jimmy Moore, Christopher Omiros, Alicia Omiros, and step-grandchildren: Ricky Piwowar, Adam Piwowar, Brian Piwowar, and Joyce Nahauer, and seven great-step-grandchildren, all of Uniontown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Demetrios and Chrissanthi Zervoudi, and a brother, Argyres Zervoudi, all of Greece, and an aunt, Maria Agoris of Houston, Pa.

She is survived also by a brother, Nicholas D. Zervoudi and family of Chios, Greece, an Aunt Efhari of Athens, Greece, several cousins in Greece and in the United States: cousins Demo Agoris and Sophia McCullough and family of Houston, Pa., and a nephew, Demetrios Zervoudis and family of Monroeville, Pa.

Alice was most affectionately known as “Mom” to so many neighborhood children and was best known for her cooking, baking and candy making.

She worked tirelessly in her husband’s business, Omiros Painting Company, for 30 years until their retirement.

She was a long time member of Laurette Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the local Chapter of the White Shrine, Past President of the Uniontown Chapter of The Daughters of Penelope, and served on numerous community and school committees when raising her children.

She was a longtime member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Monessen, Pa.

Viewing was held at the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Trisagion Service was offered Sunday at 8 p.m. today in the Funeral Home.

Service of Burial today, Monday, November 17, at 11 a.m. in the ANDREW D.FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Hopwood, Pa.
