Announcements 2002 Pittsburgh Creche: For the fifth consecutive year, the Pittsburgh Cr?che, the world’s only authorized replica of the Nativity scene at the Vatican, will stand in the plaza of the U.S. Steel Tower in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. The cr?che will be unveiled at a noon prayer service today and stand until Jan. 7. Christian Leaders Fellowship, an ecumenical group of local bishops and denominational executives, will lead a prayer service at the dedication. Over 30 business, labor and religious organizations have contributed financial support and services to the project.

ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, corner of Beeson Avenue and Dunbar Street in Uniontown, on Sunday offers casual worship at 9 a.m. that features praise choruses and hymns, accompanied by Sharon Brown and the Rev. Thomas E. Brown’s message “Tell God – Thank You.’ Sunday school classes for all ages meet at 9:45 a.m. The traditional 11 a.m. service features Rev. Brown’s message and special music by the Asbury Chancel Choir, directed by Bill Dreucci and organist Jim Hutchinson. Loving Nursery Care is available for infants and children under four years. Children’s church is available for all children age 4 and older. Asbury Chancel Choir will rehearse from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
Asbury is celebrating Harvest Home Sunday on Nov. 23 with a display of non-perishable food items collected throughout the month of November. The food will be distributed to Jubilee Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army and Uniontown Women’s Shelter. Donations are being accepted now in boxes in the narthex and lower Dunbar Street hallway.
Church Hanging of the Greens will also be held Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m. Children will make decorations for the Dunbar Street entryway tree while adults and youths decorate the sanctuary and doors of the church. Closing service in the sanctuary with Rev. Brown is at 5:15 p.m. A churchwide covered dish Thanksgiving dinner will follow at 6 p.m. Participants should bring a favorite covered dish and come to give thanks and celebrate in song. CALVARY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, located at Clark Street and Collins Avenue, Uniontown, will worship on Christ the King Sunday by celebrating the sacrament of Holy Communion at its 9:30 a.m. service. UNIONTOWN FREE METHODIST CHURCH, 300 Evans St., located at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Evans Street, one block from the B.J. Mundel furniture store on Uniontown’s East End, in partnership with Sonlight Missions, is sponsoring a mission trip to San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, Jan. 17-31.
They plan to construct a parsonage/church and minister in various ways in an orphanage and throughout the community through Vacation Bible School, evangelism, teaching, etc. The cost is $500 per person and includes all transportation, housing and food expenses.
