BEREAN SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, Searight and Butler Streets, Uniontown, last Sunday served Thanksgiving dinner to more than 90 people from the Uniontown area and distributed 55 food baskets and an estimated 500 to 600 pieces of clothing and shoes for men, women and children. This was the 13th year the church performed this ministry called Operation Jesus Feed. Officials report it is growing each year. Officials said, “We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our members, the many volunteers, the local Uniontown businesses and all the other donors who helped to make the occasion an overwhelming success with their help and support in the form of donations and time. We want the community to know that this service has been provided each year with great joy and humility by your friends at the Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church.’

BROWNSVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHARGE announces Luella Krieger will appear at First United Methodist Church, 215 Church St., Brownsville, on Sunday. Krieger’s portrayals of several different women of the Bible have been so well received that she is returning to kick off the Advent season.

Krieger will portray Suzannah Wesley at 11 a.m. for a charge-wide worship service, which will be followed by the annual charge Christmas dinner. At 7 p.m., she will return to portray Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

Krieger was a registered nurse for 21 years until she began working in full-time ministry called “Visitors From the Past.’ She portrays many women of the Bible as well as Whinny, the Whining Klown, who tells Bible stories. She also does various other characters that make Gospel stories more real to people who hear them.

In celebration of John Wesley’s 300th birthday, Krieger will portray Suzannah Wesley who had 19 children in 20 years. Two of her sons were to impact Christendom in great ways. In the evening, Mary, the Mother of Jesus is about the girl from Nazareth whose life seemed to be complete as she planned life with her groom, Joseph the Carpenter. The audience will see how her plans were changed as God called upon her to bear the Christ child.

CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF UNIONTOWN, 23 S. Gallatin Ave., will have Saturday Night Central, a contemporary prayer and praise style worship service, at 6 p.m. with Penny Whoolery presenting special music.

The first Sunday of Advent, will have J.W. Hormell, guest speaker, deliver the sermon “Broad Shoulders’ at 10:30 a.m. worship. Ed Yauger will give the children’s message. Denise Zundel will be the organist. The Rev. Art Mace is senior minister. Nursery and preschool care are available during Sunday morning worship, which can also be seen Sunday at 5 p.m. on cable television channel 21. CLARKSVILLE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, located on Market Street, announces Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. while worship with the Rev. FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH (DISCIPLES OF CHRIST), OF BROWNSVILLE, 512 Second St., worships at 10:45 a.m. Sunday and includes an elder-led Communion service. The Rev. Thomas Logston, guest speaker, will deliver the sermon “Being a Witnessing Community.’ Amy Locush will deliver the children’s sermon. GREENE VALLEY CHURCH OF GOD, Carmichaels, on Sunday at 11 a.m. will have Family and Friend Day. Guest speaker is the Rev. Gunnar Thornseinson from Iceland. A meal will be served after morning worship. Prime Timers (50 and over) on Dec. 13 will take a bus ride to see the lights at Ogleby Park in West Virginia.
