Uniontown Art Opera Galleries open

Art Opera Galleries will hold an inaugural art show from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Fayette Building rotunda, 48-52 W. Main St., Uniontown.

Art Opera Galleries, which is using the show to open its new business, will feature international art work from east to west including originals and reproductions.

Items featured will include jackets from the east and surfer gear from the west; coffee from the east of Starbucks and the west of Maxwell House, cheese from the east aisle of Giant Eagle and the west aisle of Shop ‘n Save, and music from Leyla Mourand in the east of Egypt to James Taylor of the western world. Also, 10 percent of proceeds will benefit the Uniontown Redevelopment Authority.

Stores offer gift cards

Gift cards in increments of $10, $25 and $50 are now available at all Shop ‘n Save supermarkets – including Fayette County stores in Uniontown, Connellsville, Dunbar, Fairchance and Masontown.

The cards are good to use at any Shop ‘n Save location throughout Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and West Virginia.

Lou Krebs, vice president of marketing, said that the Shop ‘n Save gift card was developed with ease of use in mind.

“No longer will our customers have to deal with cumbersome and awkward gift certificates. Now this sturdy, easy to use plastic card can be neatly stored in purses or wallets alongside other important cards that make shopping quick and convenient.’

Community Bank pays dividend

Ralph J. Sommers Jr., chairman/CEO of Community Bank, National Association in Greene and Washington counties, recently announced that the bank’s board approved a dividend payment of 19 cents per share for stockholders of record as of Dec. 9.

The dividend will be payable on Dec. 19.

The December dividend will bring the total dividend payment for the year to 38 cents per share, which is a 1 cent per share increase over last year, for a projected total dividend pay out of $900,478.

Community Bank, National Association common stock is traded in the over-the-counter market under the symbol CMYC.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this dividend payment to our shareholders and believe it is a reflection of the stability and growth of this hometown financial institution – despite these trying economic times,’ Sommers said.

Community Bank currently has 10 branch offices in both Greene and Washington Counties with assets totaling $270 million.

It recently announced the acquisition of two branches in Allegheny County.

“We are excited about the opportunity this transaction presents and are looking forward to offering Community Bank’s products and services to our neighbors in the Brentwood and Brookline areas,” Sommers said.

As a result of this branch acquisition, Community Bank will have approximately $310 million in total assets and 12 full-service branch offices in three counties.
