Connellsville man faces trial for brandishing guns
CONNELLSVILLE – A North Jefferson Street man who allegedly brandished two guns at his neighbor and her children during an altercation will face a Fayette County judge and jury in the matter. Ford Brian Johnson, 40, who is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and stalking in connection with the May 25 incident, listened as his accuser Lisa Ann Breakiron testify during Johnson’s Wednesday preliminary hearing that she was frightened when she saw the weapons pointed in her direction.
Breakiron told Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Mark Brooks that Johnson had yelled at her to slow down as she drove past his house on her way to her North Jefferson Street residence.
After exiting the vehicle, Breakiron said Johnson started toward her and the two began to exchange heated words.
When he returned to his home, Breakiron said she went to retrieve her telephone from her residence as a precautionary measure.
“I knew things weren’t good,” she said.
Breakiron said the next time she saw Johnson he was walking toward her with a gun in each hand.
“Where did he have the guns?” asked Brooks.
“They were pointed at me and my two kids,” said Breakiron.
Under cross-examination by Fayette County Public Defender David Kaiser, Breakiron admitted that there had been no previous arguments between the pair.
“I never had a problem with him until this,” she testified.
State police Trooper Robert G. Karinchak said that during his investigation Johnson turned over two handguns matching the description given to him by Breakiron.
District Justice Ronald Haggerty held over all charges for court.
While he awaits a trial date, Johnson remains free on a recognizance bond.
