PENN STATE MASTER GARDENERS will present a compost bin workshop Friday from 6 to 7:309 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Bins will distributed free. A test will be given at the end of the session. Pre-registration is requested by calling the Fayette County Extension office in Uniontown at 724-438-0111. Walk-ins are welcome provided compost kits are still available. The Penn State Extension and the Department of Environmental Protection sponsor program. FAYETTE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY will meet at 7 p.m. today at Menallen Grange, New Salem Road. Public is invited to attend.
AMERICAN LEGION UNIT 51 will initiate new members during the regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the post home.

NEARLY NEW SHOP, held in the basement of the Hopwood United Methodist Church, will be open from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Jewelry, clothes and miscellaneous items will be sold.
FAYETTE COUNTY SUNDAY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION executive board will meet at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Central Fellowship Church, Connellsville. All Sunday school workers are invited to attend.
INDIAN CREEK VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER, Route 711 at Indian Head, will hold a buckwheat pancake dinner and flea market Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All-you-can-eat meals are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Flea market inside tables are $9 a day; open air space, $6 per day. Hot sandwiches will also be available. It is sponsored by the Indian Creek Valley Lions Club.
