John G. Horvath
John G. Horvath, age 80, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Friday, October 3, 2003 in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born July 13, 1923 in Point Marion, Pa., the son of George Horvath and Anna (Gansor) Horvath Furman and stepfather, Martin Furman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Grace “Betty” Horvath, an infant brother, George Horvath, a brother Raymond Furman, and parents.
John was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific Theatre.
He worked for United States Steel at the McKeesport Works and was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by six brothers and two sisters: Andrew Horvath of York, Pa., Frank Horvath and wife, Ann, of Hopwood, Pa., Joe Horvath and wife, Harriet, of Uniontown, Henry Furman of Euclid, Ohio, Robert Furman of Connellsville, Pa., Dolores Burns of Silver Spring, Maryland, Elmer Furman and wife, Mary Lou, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mildred Bradley of South Connellsville, Pa.; a special niece, Betty Mesler and friend, Even Lambert, of Eighty Four, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today (Monday, October 6) until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers or Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. at St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, North Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Micah E. Kozoil as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Georges Township, Fayette County, Pa.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Parish Wake Service was held in the Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:30.
