Motorcyclist injured in accident
An accident along Route 40, near Knuckleheads, sent a motorcyclist to the hospital Thursday. State Trooper Matthew Alekson said a motorcyclist from West Virginia was flown by medical helicopter to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after he was thrown from his motorcycle during the accident.
Alekson said the collision occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m.
At least two motorcyclists were traveling west on Route 40 when the victim rear-ended a second bike that was attempting to stop for traffic, the trooper said.
At press time, the motorcyclist, who Alekson said was wearing a “shell” helmet, had been admitted to intensive care.
